Wishes and Wants: Fall 2012 Edition

Oooh, a wishlist

Mermaid Dip Dye Lilac
$33 – lockshopwigs.com

So, this is basically a list of the things I would like to have going into fall. The new Ciaté velvet manicure in either Berry Poncho (left) or Mink Cashmere (right), a dip dye wig (center), Sephora + Pantone Universe lipgloss set for fall 2012, and various items from the Yayoi Kusama x Louis Vuitton collaboration. Those, I could most definitely be unable to afford, unless someone gifts it to me XD

What are some things you would like to have going into fall?

Food Fight Level Up: Cupcake Tossing

Anyone up for Cupcake Tossing?

This seems like a more specialized form of food fights, seeing that it only revolves around one particular type of food. This is a much less refined form of food fights, compared to tea dueling (http://trialbysteam.com/2011/02/26/tea-dueling/)

Oh, and one more thing. The winner gets ALL the accessories, like in this video, or whatever else may be the spoils of war.

Sounds like fun, eh? Now let’s go bake two batches of cupcakes (one for eating, the other for battling it out), and have some fun!

Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld: Mon Shu

Mon Shu is Fashion Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld‘s latest creation. Mon Shu is the result of Karl Lagerfeld’s recent collaboration with Cosmetic brand Shu Uemura. Believe it or not, Karl did say that he uses Shu Uemura cosmetics for his sketches  “because other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors.”

The above video show’s how Mon Shu was born, and includes a sneak peek at the collaboration. It looks like there’ll be several shadows, at least one lipstick, blush, liner(?), face powders, blush, and bronzer (maybe.)

I’m über excited for this collection because I missed out on Karl Lagerfeld x Sephora last year, so hopefully, I can score some goodies this year!

So this leaves me with the question: Should I break out some red contacts for Karl Lagerfeld x Shu Uemura to have a Mon Shu inspired look?

Creamy Mami: Magical Girl, Idol Extraordinaire

Pamporu, Pimporu, Pam Pom Pum! Pimporu Pamporu Pam Pom Pum!

This line of words is the key to transforming from Morisawa Yuu to the gorgeous singing idol, Creamy Mami. Having recently finished Magical Angel Creamy Mami, I thought I would talk a bit about it.

Summary via Wikipedia: Yuu Morisawa is an ordinary 10-year-old girl, until she sees a spaceship floating in the sky. Carried into the ship, she helps Pino Pino find the Feather Star. In thanks for her help he grants her a magical wand, which allows her to transform into a 16-year old girl, for one year. She is also given two cats from Feather Star, Poji and Nega, who are to watch over her while she has magical powers. While wandering around the city as a teenager, she accidentally ends up on TV and asked to sing, which the magic enables her to do remarkably well. Using the alias of Creamy Mami, she becomes an overnight success, and is soon sought to begin a professional career as an idol under Parthenon Productions. Along the way, she also meets past residents of Feather Star and supernatural beings. In addition, she must fight against Snake Joe, a shady character of the rival LP Productions, who is always trying to steal her away and Megumi-chan, another one of Parthenon Productions’ top stars.

It’s a fabulous anime to watch because the songs are cute and catchy, Mami’s outfits are out of this world, and need I say more? Go watch it!!

Anyways, Creamy Mami is an anime from the 1980’s (waaaaay before I was born…), so it’s interesting that it’s been gaining popular today. As a child, I loved Magical Girl animes such as Sailor Moon and Wedding Peach, so it’s nice to see that there’s a bit of revival with the Magical Girl genre.

Sadly, Creamy Mami isn’t coming back as an anime, however, it is coming back as a part of fashion. Several Japanese fashion brands have collaborated with it to produce items. Angelic Pretty, Galaxxxy, Metamorphose, Putumayo, and Shampooooo have all created items inspired by the series.

Putumayo and Metamorphose, being Lolita fashion brands, created dresses inspired by her, though I don’t find myself really wanting them…

Out of all the collaborations, my favorite was Angelic Pretty’s. Instead of creating one or two items, they made accessories, a cutsew, and a hoodie, all of which I wish I could afford. My favorite items are the bag and cutsew (shown below).

I really want this Creamy Mami x Angelic Pretty bag. Buy it for me (click the pic)?

Aren’t they cute?

Hopefully, the Magical Girl genre (for girls especially) is here to stay, with the return of my childhood (read: Sailor Moon) in 2013.

I Love You

2NE1 is a mainstream artist, they sometimes sing mainstream things, but I think what makes them different is their style, and most of their songs. They dress differently, not different like say, Lady Gaga or Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, the queens of all that is weird and nonsensical, but different more along the lines of bold and expressive.

Did I tell you how much I love 2NE1? Well, I absolutely adore them just as much, if not more, as I adore corsets and fashion.

So when ‘I Love You’ was announced, alongside their international tour, (they’re playing in the US! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!) you can probably imagine how excited I was.

Anyways, back on subject.

I Love You is labeled as Electronic/pop on their YouTube description, though most of their more recent songs are more of an electric sound, I think that their last Korean release, from what I can tell, anyway, was their 2nd mini album, which had a mix of electronic, pop, rock, and some hip-hop to it.

It’s very upbeat, but if you read the lyrics, you’ll find that this is in all actuality, a very serious song. It’s easy to relate to, which makes it a great song to listen to at any time of the day. Whether you’re blasting it at a party, in your car, or listening to it all by yourself.

If you’ve seen other 2NE1 videos, you’ll find that the format of this video is no different from that of other 2NE1 videos. A lot of single shots walking around/dancing, then some choreography altogether later on with the rap. Generally, Minzi does all the dancing, CL raps, Bom does the hardcore vocal stuff, and Dara looks good. Not to say these, ladies aren’t all talented in these areas, because they are, some are just better in those specified areas than others.

The name 2NE1 is synonymous with the word, fashion, I find. This section will probably the longest portion of the whole post, because of that.

The overall theme for ‘I Love You’ was exotic. From animal prints, vibrant colors, gold jewelry, and scarves to Dara’s half-shaven head, 2NE1 really wanted to take you on an exotic vacation into their world for this video. Kind of like a resort collection, very luxe.

2NE1’s main looks from the MV via google images.

Here you can see that Minzi and Dara are sporting animal print in the form of main pieces such as a dress or jacket, while CL opts for a more subtle touch; the animal print booties. I can’t really tell if Bom is sporting animal print, but the blue panels on her dress look vaguely like snakeskin to me.

You can also see what images everyone went for in this still. Dara was edgy, Minzy has a sexy/powerful thing going, CL was retro, and Bom went sexy femme.

Look! They’re all wearing tassels! I’m pretty sure Dara and Bom’s choker are the same, and Minzy probably has one on in another shot somewhere….. I kind of want them. The MV also had a lot of chunky gold jewelry, not like bamboo hoops and nameplate necklaces, but more like coins and buttons. Like old-school Versace! I am proud to say I own a pair of sunglasses like the ones CL wore in the

MV.The colors used in the MV for the looks were fuschia, gray, gold, white, black, and what looks like jade green. There was also a bit of blue in there too.

Let’s talk hair and make-up.

I noted that Bom and Dara rocked horizontal two-tone hair.

On a more subtle note, Minzy had a bit of blue in her hair (or is it a wig?).

Make-up for this vid is the usual 2NE1 smoky lids + cat eye with pinkish, doll-like lips.

Bom had this cool blue accent lash going, which I totally loved, and is totally achievable in real life with colored mascara or eyeliner. If you want to go really hardcore, you can attach feathers to your lashes with lash glue.

A major (to me,anyway) thing I noticed in the MV was that everyone was sporting nail art. With it on the rise, it’s probably really important to show it.

Here’s Minzy’s nails.  Believe it or not, hers were actually the simplest of them all, from what I could tell. Hers were professionally done, but you can do something similar with nail polish, some nail pens or art deco polish, and nail stickers. If you guys are interested, I can put up a tutorial on how to achieve something similar.

With these nails, however, you’re gonna have to go to your super awesome (and possibly Asian) nailist.

Now, putting it all together:

And they want their clothes back. Like seriously, dude. What is this tom-foolery? It looks like something you’d find on the sale rack at Frederick’s. No, seriously. This is like a flashback to the era of innerwear-is-outerwear,  and not in a good way. I mean, as someone who enjoys garterbelts, corsets, and burlesque, this is just not cutting it. It’s like someone decided to don their cheapest negligée out to the supermarket (or worse, a red carpet event) with arm warmers(!!!!!! WTF.) The belt is not making it any better either. I can understand the lurex tights, as the show involved them. And the fabric, THE FABRIC!!!!!!! It looks shoddy and cheap, like someone fell asleep while making this.

Okay, folks, do you love it, hate it? Talk about it in the comments below~
