If you’ve been following me on social media, you can probably tell that I live a pretty hectic life here at SCAD. From a crazy orientation weekend, to meeting and getting along with new people who have no idea who or what you are, and trying to balance a social life with school and career opportunities, hectic doesn’t even begin to describe it.
It honestly feels like it was just a week ago when I started this blog up, talking about kpop music video styling and throwing shade at Karl Lagerfeld’s more ridiculous designs, when in actuality, it’s been about two years since then.
Quite a bit has transpired since. I’ve started to write poetry, I got rejected from my top choice school, I survived the IB diploma programme, I graduated, and I finished my final year of the Youth Leadership Program. I’m going to college in the fall, and will try to avoid facing crippling debt. I’ve also been applying to jobs like crazy, with next to no positive results. I have a lot to look forward to, but also a lot to worry about. One thing is for sure though, it happens one day at a time.
Yesterday, I received what was probably the most heartbreaking news to date. My top – choice school, the Fashion Institute of Technology, had rejected my application. I realize that it’s a super-competetive school and is really difficult to get into, … Continue reading
Sorry there was no figure drawing post last week. The class got rescheduled due to snow. But this week I felt like I had really improved in terms of drawing people from observation because in some of the poses, my lines and values were pretty on point, especially in the 45 minute pose. The model was male, which was a real challenge for me, considering I generally don’t draw males… but it was fun and I felt very accomplished after.
Today marks my first day at figure drawing!! I haven’t really had much experience drawing people that aren’t a photograph
(or myself), so this class was a must for me, especially in preparing my art portfolios. I think today was pretty successful, I saw a significant improvement from the warm ups to the longer period drawings, so I’m feeling quite accomplished today. There’s nine more classes, so I really hope to improve~
So after getting my sewing machine, I finally went on a trip to my local(-ish) fabric store today. It was a chain place, catering more to quilters than the sort of thing that I was looking for, alas >.< But despite that, I did manage to get some really good fabrics as well as some really great swatches for my F.I.T portfolio. I also picked up a pattern to make stuff out of this, but I won’t reveal it JUST yet *3* I’m really excited to work with this lovely brocade, but it’s SOOOOO hard to photograph, which might be an issue when it comes to taking photos of the finished product.
So what do you think of this fabric? What do you think I’ll make out of it?
First of all, Happy New Year to all of you! Thank you so much for following me, I really hope that y’all had a great 2013! Here’s to an even better 2014!
A couple of days after Christmas, I went out with my mom and ended up getting a ton of stuff. I was really excited about what I got, so I thought that I’d share it with all of you! One of the first stops we hit was Urban Outfitters, one of my favorite places to shop, especially during sale season 😉 I got over-the-knee socks, which I’m super excited about, because socks are literally one of my favorite things >3< as well as some shoes, which were super lucky finds on the sale rack. They fit surprisingly well, considering I have small, wide feet. I was uber psyched about the acetate heel boots in particular, since they really reminded me of a pair of these Chanel boots I was pretty obsessed with…
You can expect to see my boots in a few looks soon!
Apart from Urban Outfitters, I also got a super adorable top from J. Crew, which I’ll probably be wearing soon, and some bralettes from hot topic, which were buy one get one free. At $5, I couldn’t say no!
Did you guys hit the shops after Christmas? Do tell!
First off, a very merry Christmas to all of my followers!
I had actually meant to post my OOTD yesterday, when I wore it, but I got back home really late and I still had to finish my prescribed title draft x_x. I had a lot of fun coordinating this outfit because that cat crop top is literally my favorite crop top and the shoes are actually the cutest things in the world. *squee* The accessories are actually a secret Santa gift from one of my really close friends (◡‿◡✿). Those of you who follow me on instagram (if you don’t, by the way, you probably should ;)) are probably aware of my little Sephora shopping spree where I bought Marc Jacobs blush and NARS foundation, which I’ve been using just about everyday since I got it. I’m even using it in that picture! My lips are a combo of Milani Lipstick in Black Cherry (11) and Maybelline Color Whisper in Petal Rebel (60). My eyes are basically Tarte eyeshadow, Marc Jacobs eyeliner, and Clinique high impact mascara.
Onto Christmas Day!
Oh man, this year was pretty hard on my family this year, so I wasn’t really expecting much for Christmas considering my college tuition is going to be about 50k/year, my mom went to the Philippines this year, and she got married. I was really surprised that I actually got anything this year, actually. I really loved all of the gifts, but my favorite one by far is my brand-new Brother SC9500 Computerized Sewing machine *________* I had really needed a sewing machine to do the portfolio portion of my FIT application, so this was literally the best thing ever for me. Other things I got were an OCC Lip Tar set including Anime, NSFW, Black Dahlia, and Memento, Stella by Stella McCartney perfume (one of my faves!), as well as a leather jacket and a sweater.
Anyways, I hope that you guys are having a great Christmas (if you do celebrate Christmas)~ Did you get any good presents? Give any great ones? What was your favorite?
