Happy 2015!

So sorry for the sporadic posts, it’s been a super busy time for me these past few months leading up to the new year, from finals, to visiting friends, to spending the Christmas holidays abroad (which I will post about soon, hopefully)! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and here’s to a better 2015!

This year’s resolutions include (in no particular order):

  • getting a part-time job to offset the cost of school
  • being more active so I can look and feel better
  • posting more often on this blog (more reviews, more updates, just more)
  • getting my work published on my school’s fashion blog page ( scadmanor.com ) and not just their instagram page
  • becoming a better writer
  • updating my portfolio and resume more often
  • getting on dean’s list
  • doing more personal projects

What are your resolutions for this year? Do tell!

SCAD: Quarter 1

If you’ve been following me on social media, you can probably tell that I live a pretty hectic life here at SCAD. From a crazy orientation weekend, to meeting and getting along with new people who have no idea who or what you are, and trying to balance a social life with school and career opportunities, hectic doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Graduation, and Other things

image

It honestly feels like it was just a week ago when I started this blog up, talking about kpop music video styling and throwing shade at Karl Lagerfeld’s more ridiculous designs, when in actuality, it’s been about two years since then.

Quite a bit has transpired since. I’ve started to write poetry,  I got rejected from my top choice school, I survived the IB diploma programme, I graduated, and I finished my final year of the Youth Leadership Program. I’m going to college in the fall, and will try to avoid facing crippling debt. I’ve also been applying to jobs like crazy, with next to no positive results. I have a lot to look forward to, but also a lot to worry about. One thing is for sure though, it happens one day at a time.

Figure Drawing: Day 2

20140128-221658.jpg
Sorry there was no figure drawing post last week. The class got rescheduled due to snow. But this week I felt like I had really improved in terms of drawing people from observation because in some of the poses, my lines and values were pretty on point, especially in the 45 minute pose. The model was male, which was a real challenge for me, considering I generally don’t draw males… but it was fun and I felt very accomplished after.

What Katie Did Detachable Garters Review

My What Katie Did order came in today! Which, was super fast considering I had placed the order on Thursday during lunch. As soon as I placed my order, I received my invoice number, then a few hours later, my USPS tracking number. It was meant to be 2-day shipping, but it was hailing on Saturday, then it was a holiday on Monday, which probably caused the delay…

As you can see, the package arrived in a flat USPS envelope, which is in pretty good condition considering it came in all the way from sunny LA☀️

But, it’s what’s on the inside that counts, right?

Figure Drawing: Day 1

20140114-222737.jpg

Today marks my first day at figure drawing!! I haven’t really had much experience drawing people that aren’t a photograph (or myself), so this class was a must for me, especially in preparing my art portfolios. I think today was pretty successful, I saw a significant improvement from the warm ups to the longer period drawings, so I’m feeling quite accomplished today. There’s nine more classes, so I really hope to improve~

Fabric Gets at Joann’s

Fabric buys today at Joann’s

So after getting my sewing machine, I finally went on a trip to my local(-ish) fabric store today. It was a chain place, catering more to quilters than the sort of thing that I was looking for, alas >.<  But despite that, I did manage to get some really good fabrics as well as some really great swatches for my F.I.T portfolio. I also picked up a pattern to make stuff out of this, but I won’t reveal it JUST yet *3* I’m really excited to work with this lovely brocade, but it’s SOOOOO hard to photograph, which might be an issue when it comes to taking photos of the finished product.

So what do you think of this fabric? What do you think I’ll make out of it?
